April is here, what are you up too?

April is here and I've been really busy. Finally perfected my screen coating and am currently working on printing our DVC x MOURN ONE collab design. Just finalizing the position and then we are off to the printer. It's been a long time coming for this design to be printed but the wait has been worth it.

Been working with Robert G. on a self-published coffee table book of my photographs. Don't want to give too much away but it's going to be unique in style. Feel like a magazine in style but not in appearance. Robert has been working on the lay out with me it's looking great. Keep you posted on availability and maybe a sneak peak in the coming weeks.

I've been posting my goals for DVC here and it's helped quite a bit with keeping schedules and learning to pace myself. This month will be no different so lets get started.

  • I've printed tote bags and moved to t-shirts. Want to print two designs this month and have them available at the end of the month on our website.
  • Photoshoot on hold til next month.
  • Pushing the RDL vs. DVC to next month. Still working on the designs.
  • Holding off on canvas & painting supplies til beginning of May.
  • Working on new project, a coffee table book. 30% of this project is done, keep it up.
  • Created new logo for rapper LOCSTA and now moving on to his Myspace page. Logo is featured below.
Thanks for reading the rant and please give me some input on the logo or just post a comment. Anything is much appreciated. STAY DIRTY!

Busy day...or I'd like to think so.

Today was just another day for me, updating the D.V. Clothing website with a new story about this new artist we are working with, Jesse Garcia. He is a young graffiti artist trying to make his talent work for him. It's been great collaborating with him, he has fresh ideas a great sense of design and is just a diamond in the rough. I hope to get his artwork out to the masses in the coming weeks.

There is a new short story about Jesse for our News portion of the website. I'm not much of a writer but but hopefully blogging and writing more and more will help improve my skills. Photography is also a big part of my skill sets to provide some visuals with all that I write about so enjoy the photos that I take as well. My online portfolio is here on my Flickr account, http://www.flickr.com/photos/erwood/.

Well I'll leave you this photo from the DIRTY VATO piece that Jesse did for us. Thanks again and remember, STAY DIRTY!

Photo-shoot with Jesse Garcia a.k.a. MOURN

It was hot and my head began to ache from the heat of the alley. The smell of spray can was sharp
and over powering. The sun is directly hitting Jesse and I don't know how he can take it. I ask him how he can stand it. His response is, " I'm used to it." Well I'm not and it's a new experience for me to be standing the sun and watching a guy spray paint a piece on a wall.
I'm just there to capture it.

Jesse is doing what he loves which is finding a canvas, usually a building or a friends room, and leaves his art for all to see. Jesse is a graffiti artist from Whittier and is the newest addition to the D.V. Clothing family. He is bringing his talent for the can to our DIRTY VATO line of D.V. Clothing. We have been in the works with Jesse for about 2 months now and it's been a work in progress to give him a platform to show his talent.

4hrs later his piece was complete. He added a drawing of a old chola to the left of his writing name "MOURN". It is his first attempt to putting that drawing on a wall. The bright purple hair and blue curls coming off her really stand out. He used allot of pastels for this piece and it really just stands out with that flat beige background. For this being my first hand look at Jesse painting it was a great experience with more to come. Below is a look at the final piece.

Well this is my first blog and I can't wait to bring you more of my thoughts and experiences in the coming months about me and D.V. Clothing and the direction we take it.
