I haven't been updating my blogger in some time cause well...Tumblr has been ruling the updates. Well I just wanted to update this page with some news. Just received my second feature on Graffhead.com. I was featured before for the Estria Invitational in Los Angeles this past August. I've definitely been putting in allot of work and really making waves in my career. So check out Graffhead.com and keep up with the graffiti scene here in Los Angeles.

While on my way to a car show in Anaheim I drove by this building with some fresh paint on it. The mirrored glass really gives it a great effect.

Allot of new work is sprouting all over the city. Whack or good I believe this year 2011 A.D. is the year that graffiti is really making a jump again. The resurgence if you will of people expressing themselves by any means either it be can or paper. Theses last days of summer are going to pretty interesting.

Art Talk with Chaz Bojorquez {MOCA}

Made a trip out to MOCA for the Art Talk with CHAZ Bojorquez. He spoke about the his art form and how it fit in the time line of Art in the Streets. CHAZ also spoke of the elements of each painting and the meanings behind them. Most importantly he spoke of the future of the movement and how it will possibly shape in the coming years.

LUSH Sells Out {Hold Up Art}

Seems that LUSH has a little bit of a nasty side. Who knew? This was one crazy show. Live strippers coming out of the wood work and just showing it all for the crowd.

Like my girls brother said, "Tha block was hot!" This is a pic of the aftermath of the craziest home fireworks display I have seen in the some time. Three cakes {big fireworks} caught fire. Nothing says a great time better than blowing shit up.

Street Cred {PMCA}

At the Pasadena Museum of Contemporary Art Street Cred is a complimentary exhibit to Art in the Streets currently at MOCA. The building is not hard to miss when you see it. The artists RETNA put his signature touch on the building. A definite must see if you are in Cali.

East Los Angeles

I was visiting this great marisco place in East LA and cruising the walls there and discovered some great work. I love the age of the murals and how much respect has been given to them. Definitely one of my favorite places to visit graf work.

Firestone Exit {South LA}

I came across this rotted corpse of dog on a recent photo hunt thru South Los Angeles. As you can see it has been dead for quite some time. It was just interesting more then anything. Especially how this dog got up there. Very strange.

I finally was able to see a PHILLY hand at work. Just recently read an article in Infamous Magazine about the Philadelphia writing style called "wicked." Can't wait to read more articles by this magazine and hope to see more of there presences here in the California.

Spreading Perspective - Curtiss King

The average rapper nowadays must answer to whether his music is Underground, Mainstream, Auto-Tuneish, Southern, Gangster, Hipster, etc. Southern Cali Emcee/Producer Curtiss King represents the anti-title and instead aims for the human emotions. From joy to dissapointment to triumph and down right ratchetness, his music represent his walk of life and everything included.

Originally from Carson, CA and now hailing out of the Inland Empire, California, Curtiss King has pioneered a unique sound not only through his lyricism but with his production as well. Ranging from his Glasses Malone coined' "Gangsta Soul" sound to his aggressive synthesizers, one can instantly identify a Curtiss King beat when the drums are introduced. Curtiss King describes the combination of heavy percussion and his free will aggressive lyricism that accompanies as his outlet. No boundaries. BUSEY music.

Assorted Flavor {Known Gallery}

Made the trip to Known Gallery this weekend for Assorted Flavor. This night was a great night of who's who in the graf world.

This shot of folks standing near a Patrick Martinez piece called Cal Trans is after they took the pic of the piece on their phone. Probably arguing about how to post it to Twitter.

Spring Street {Chinatown}

As I was photographing this building full of graffiti I looked behind me and boom, there was this great piece in theses beautiful orange and purple tones. Was not able to see who actually did this piece but I hope to find out soon.

Landmark Inc {South Central}

This pas weekend I attend a tribute and fundraiser for graffiti legend DREAM at Landmark in South Central. Just east of 110 fwy this spot is a haven of writers to really dive in and hone their craft.

In the corner near the DJ was a chair with sharpies, blackbook and a spray can with a handful of tips. The only thing i could think of was this chair was for DREAM. So he can sit down and enjoy the view of all theses great writers honoring him.

Street Art Store {SilverLake}

Quiet possibly the best store for stickers in the city. I was told by one of the employees that kids come from the neighborhood and save their lunch money to purchase stickers from this shop. I mean your getting some really great diy stickers from possibly all over the city and from out of state.

Stickers are sold by the gram at a dollar a gram. That is a steal for some cool stickers to add to your collection. My daughter was in total heaven with this place.

Oh yeah did I also tell you they sell great prints from some of the best artists in the country. Logan Hicks, Cryptik and OBEY GIANT just to name a few. If and when your in the hood, check this place out.

E3 Reception {DTLA}

The lighting on this pic is great. High contrast shadows and the brick looks great. Really gritty. For the second time in a month I had a chance to talk with Jae Bueno of LRM. Again, one of my photographic idols and to top it off Estevan Oriol was at this show. Man could it get any better. It did! The bacon wrapped hot dog was just the icing on the cake. CHEERS!

Angel City Brewing {DTLA}

On my way to see Awesome Academy's new gear I was also able to check out some of the work from the previous show at Angel City Brewing, Street Brewed. Featuring large wooden panels about 10 feet by 12 feet wide art work by some very great artists.

This piece by James Haunt is very bold with color and style. The color just jump for me and he has a great style of drawing women.

Art of Transportation {DTLA}

To me technically speaking is the most interesting pieces of the show. I did not get a chance to ask the artists the history of theses enamel prints on sheet metal but if you look at the details and the ink use for them. It's phenomenal. Very detailed, spot on registration and it just pops ink just pops off the metal.

Logan Hicks {Opera Gallery Preview}

Browsing the blogs and websites I came across a preview of artists Logan Hicks upcoming show at Opera Gallery in NY. If you have not seen his work visit his website. It's amazing. He very detailed and methodical. Still waiting for the day he makes a trip to LA and has a show. Definitely one artists that I truly would love to meet.

IronLak Grand Opening {Hollywood}

Made it out to the IronLak LA store opening this past Saturday in Hollyweird. Two points I have to make about the opening.

1. Serving alcohol at a store opening and not a gallery opening are two different things. NO ALCOHOL!

2. Not enough blackbooks going around. If you write don't be shy. Don't care if it's whack, just get down like you know you can.

My daughter has her first "mean streak" and spray can. Generously given and purchased at the IronLak Store.

Fuji Reala Discontinued

This is a photo of my nephew at famous graf spot in LA. I wanted a portrait of him using my Mamiya C330. I've just started shooting with it and fell in love with the Reala 100 by Fuji. Well I just found out that it has been discontinued. So my plan is to stock up and use it sparingly.

Went to Hold Up Art Gallery this weekend to support RTSYSTM. Met him at Scaling the Walls and my daughter wanted to give him a drawing she did for him. Again he was ecstatic to get a piece from her and he introduced her to most of the artists at the event. Thanks to NICNAK, TEAL, James Haunt's, Andy Rios, Axis and especially RTSYSTM.

I really liked how this piece by CRASH was presented at this show. Nice combination's of work that were put together but this is by far my favorite. Had a great time at this event. RISK again was a great guy and wrote in my daughter's book. FREEDOM again really was by far a pleasant and outgoing man.

This is my favorite shot of the night. The girls in scantly clad outfits depicting the paintings was a great touch to the gallery. I'm not sure if this will be on going for the gallery so if you missed out too bad. I have some pics to make you whole!

I was just uploading theses picks and realized how much I love this statue of a cat. I am not a cat person by the way but to rock a statue of a cat at the house. CHERRY!

As the recent opening of Art in the Streets at MOCA in Los Angeles there have been a significant amount of street art influenced shows opening in galleries throughout LA.

Here is a pic from All City ~ Los Angeles Street Art at La Mano Grafica. Near Lincoln Heights and Dodger Stadium this gallery is a great place to really see some great art. Running til May 7th definitely go by and check out the work here.

I really enjoyed this series of paintings. Beautiful color. Great imagery. The artwork reminded me of BioShock. Looks like she used acrylic buy I'm not too sure. Should have asked the curator. Anyways, if you in the area go check out this great new gallery, Galeria Obscura. Right near the Pico and Flower near the Chick Hearn station by the Metro. You won't be disappointed.

Went to this great show in North Hollywood and can you believe it? I was the only guy in the room with a film camera. It's funny how folks see a film camera and know that you are the man to go to for pics. Anyways, my family had a great time! Lots of great art and really humbled artists. Definitely going to another Cella Gallery opening really soon!

Oh yeah! I'll be having more photos from this event coming soon. I have lots of film to process. Some coming soon from my new MAMIYA C330!

This shot has so much going on. The fence feels as if it was moving still. The opening are view ports to the other side even thou the you can still see thru the fence. One of my favorites in this series, {RUYN} Right Under Your Nose.

Took a trip to the Montana Store LA Opening of Albert Reyes. If you have never seen his work then you are really missing out on some really great work. My personal favorite was the used book covers. It's not shown here but check out my FLICKR account to see it. Better yet make a trip to the store and see it first hand. It's worth it!
